The word ‘ikat’ comes from the Malaysian meaning ‘to tie.’ It is a skilled craft set for dyer and weaver, as threads are bundled, tied and dyed prior to the weaving process. A variety of versions of this technique are found throughout the different countries, giving each its distinctive touch.
Three reclaimed jeans were transformed into this piece from the Denim Collection: the ikat print taking center stage. Slight dropped shoulder affords flexibility to the wearer.
